Västlänken – Göteborg
Project description
Client: Swedish Transport Administration
Project cost: Approximately 30 billion SEK
Time: 2017 – ongoing
The project
The West Link is one of Sweden's largest ongoing railway projects and comprises approximately eight kilometres of new double-track railway through central Gothenburg, of which just over six kilometres will be laid in tunnels. The project includes three new underground stations at Centralen, Haga and Korsvägen, as well as connections to the existing railway network in Olskroken in the north and Almedal in the south. The West Link is mainly intended for commuter and regional trains and creates the conditions for continuous train traffic through Gothenburg. The aim is to increase the capacity, accessibility and robustness of the railway system, and to reduce the load on the current sack station at Gothenburg Central.
Our mission
We support the Swedish Transport Administration in preparing the facility for commissioning. We are responsible for commissioning coordination and have developed the concept for control and monitoring. We also work with emergency planning, including exercises, and develop the operational documentation. In addition, we contribute specialist expertise in installations and lead the collaboration work with the support of KPI management.
Challenges
Monitoring of the facility will be coordinated at a national level, and many actors are involved in the project. As an underground facility in a central urban area, with a long construction period and large project volumes, the West Link places high demands on coordination and foresight.
