Söderströmsbron, the metro bridge between Slussen and Gamla stan, is one of the busiest sections of Stockholm's public transport. To ensure reliable metro traffic in the future, SL carried out an extensive refurbishment of the bridge between 2014 and 2019. The project had a budget of SEK 400 million and included four bridge replacements totaling 172 meters and four floating bridges of 8-12 meters each. The fifth, central bridge was repaired and used temporarily during the work, which was carried out in stages to minimize disruption.
