Ostlänken is a 160 km new railway between Järna and Linköping. The aim of the project is to increase accessibility, shorten travel times and improve train punctuality, while contributing to a larger labour market, smoother commuting and regional development. The Sillekrog to Skavsta section comprises 35 km of double-track main line and around 7 km of branch line towards Nyköping C. The section faces major challenges in terms of mass handling, bridge construction (38 bridges) and a new travel centre at Skavsta airport.
